Man attacked with machete downtown

San Diego (CNS) – A 51-year-old man suffered a severe cut on his right hand when another man attacked him in a machete in the Core-Columbia district of downtown San Diego, police said Thursday.

According to San Diego police officer John Battle, the incident took place Wednesday at 10:05 pm on Six Avenue near A Street.

The 51-year-old man and the woman he was with noticed what the couple was claiming, and the woman yelled at the couple and approached the other woman, Battle said. The two women began to fight, but the 51-year-old man pulled them apart.

Meanwhile, another man involved in the discussion went to his car and took you out, officials said. The suspect shook a machete at a 51-year-old man and beat him with his right hand.

Victims were taken to hospital for treatment of “almost amputated hands,” Battle said, adding that injuries were believed not to be life-threatening.

He said the couple ran away from the scene by car and could only be described as a dark sedan. The suspect was portrayed as a man in his thirties who was finally seen wearing a red sweater and blue jeans.
