Man arrested in Apple Valley hit-and-run that killed 14-year-old student athlete Lawrence Andrews

Apple Valley, CA (KABC)-A 42-year-old man was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run, killing a young student athlete in Apple Valley.

Police say Chad Goodro was detained on Monday and is currently facing a felony hit-and-run charge.

The crash occurred last Tuesday on the Ottawa road between the Navajo and Manhaset roads. Lawrence Andrews, a 14-year-old football player at Apple Valley High School, was hit by a car over 60 mph near Jameswood Park.

Witnesses say he was there to help the teen coach his younger brother’s soccer team.

“The car was gone before my baby landed from the sky,” said the boy’s mother, Sarah Andrews. “Then it seemed to speed up as the car approached, and I barely pulled the young car back to reach Lawrence, but he wasn’t there. He’s gone.”
