A smash and grab robbery caused shoppers on the spot shelter

Two male suspects used hammers to smash glass boxes in a Kay Jewelers store and stole the jewelry.

Several merchants who heard the hammers hitting the glass mistaken for the sound of gunshots, causing them to flee.

Shoppers were told to shelter in place when police arrived on the scene.

The suspects were not found, and police are asking the public to avoid the mall and the area around it.
