Mail-in ballots head to voters this week

California voters must receive a ballot by email this week for the upcoming June 7 election.

Ballot boxes open on Monday at 8 am

Elaina Cano, San Luis Obispo County Clerk, told KSBY, “I think the voters of our county here have voted by email. we think they are voters, and so they come out and want to vote in the election.

In a non -presidential election, the turnout is often lower. However, the goal is to get at least 70% of the electorate, according to Cano.

The county is requiring people to make sure everything is on the ballot before sending it out, because there will be more items on the ballot this year.

There are over 140 candidates on our ballot so far, making a double election. So the candidates will be placed before and after both sides of the ballot, “Cano said.

In the 2020 Presidential Election, nearly 65% of SLO County residents voted by email, and more than 95% voted by email during the California Gubernatorial Recall election. However, those selections were made during COVID-19 patients and patients.

“There are about 60 polling stations. And I want to say there are 18 ballot boxes and the ballot boxes will be opened on Monday, May 9 and they will be opened on election day, ”Cano said.

Polling places will only be open on election day. If the voter does not receive the email, you can call the county here.

The Clerk-Recorder offices in the counties of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara were elected for the election this June.

In SLO County, Elaina Cano was nominated for the position and is being contested by Stewart David Jenkins and James Arthur Baugh.

In Santa Barbara County, Elrawd MacLearn is running against current Secretary-Recorder Joseph Holland.
