Long Beach Health Department Hosts Summer Health Resource Fair in July

LONG BEACH, CA – Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services (Ministry of Health), in collaboration with California Disability Rights (DRC) e California State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD), hosts the Summer Health Resource Fair on July 8, 9 and 10. These free events are focused on increasing access to COVID-19 services and resources in the community by offering free vaccines and home testing kits, as well as incentives with gift cards for those who get vaccinated. In addition, the Summer Health Resource Fair will raise awareness about the resources available to people in the community with disabilities and those with access and functional needs, as well as information desks from local community organizations and exhibitors.

“These events are a great opportunity for our community to access life-saving COVID-19 services and other critical health resources,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “We hope people will come out to enjoy free food and activities and receive their vaccine or booster against COVID-19 if they haven’t already.”

These events will offer free food, music, face painting, games, superhero party actors and sensory activities, as well as incentives with gift cards for those receiving a vaccine or booster against COVID-19. On July 8, the first 100 people to get vaccinated will receive a $ 50 Visa gift card. On July 9 and 10, the first 125 people to be vaccinated will receive a $ 50 gift card. These partnerships with DRC and SCDD expand existing funding, capacity, and support to help ensure that COVID-19 vaccines remain accessible to all in a safe and comfortable place.

“Creating community collaborative events that elevate the entire community is a top priority for the Department of Health,” said Kelly Colopy, director of Health and Human Services. “Not only are we reaching out to our residents and connecting them with valuable resources and services, but we are also fostering relationships with key partners that will help expand that reach.”
