Over 100 writers gather in the Tower District of Fresno. Saturday, October 16 for LitHop 2021, A free literary festival in the city.
At least half of the writers who perform at LitHop are associated with Fresno as students, faculty, staff, or graduates.This includes three shows featuring college fellows Winner Lab Visual Wardist Studio, And 6 current graduate students from Master of Fine Arts Program With creative writing.
Lineup — Includes over 30 readings to choose from 7 different venues Noon and 7:30 pm — Featuring literary figures such as the American Poet Laureate Honor Juan Felipe Elera, the current and past Fresno Poet Laureate Megan Anderson Bohisian and Marisol Baka. LitHop’s schedule includes high school and college writers, slum poets, writers who have published multiple books, and performers who read in Spanish and Hmong.
Fellows at the Fresno State University Winners Lab will appear in three shows:
- From 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm The Revue Coffee Shop (620 E. Olive Avenue) — “Reading and Experiments from Winners Labs” featuring Anthony Cody, Paul Sanchez, Rodol Foreverard, and Rebeca Avidale Flores.
- 2: 45 pm at Hart’s Haven Bookstore (950 N. Van Ness Ave.) — “Future Reading from Winners Lab” featuring Chevas Vandel, Gaoyong Yang-Vang, Hermelinda Hernandez Monjaras and Tony Vang.
- 4: 45 pm to 4:45 pm at Fresno Music Academy (1298 N. Wishon Ave.) — “Reading and Experiments from Winners Labs” featuring Juan Felipe Herrera, JJ Hernandez, Maria Bosch and Javier A. Lopez.

LitHop is an initiative of the Fresno Arts Council and was founded in 2016 by Lee Herrick, a former Fresno City College poet laureate who teaches at Fresno City College. In addition to Herrick, this year’s Organizing Committee includes the poet and educator Fontores, who teaches at Clovis Community College. Poet and educator Juan Luis Guzman is a graduate of Fresno State University who teaches at Fresno City College. And author Lisa Lee Herrick.
