We told you about it in May Mama June Shannon married Justin Stroud after just a few months of dating.
It wasn’t his best decision. But hey, at least it wasn’t him worst.
While fans were shocked by the surprise wedding, they were hardly alone.
In a new interview, June’s daughters Alana and Lauryn admit they had no idea and no warning.
A surprise wedding is sometimes necessary. Hey, they might even be a good idea.
And then there was June Shannon’s secret wedding to Justin Stroud.
There was no big ceremony – just a courthouse wedding in Georgia in March.
It took more than a month for the public to know about the wedding.
June and Justin were spotted ring shopping during that time, sparking engagement rumours.
That speculation came too little, too late.
As we noted, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson were also surprised by the news.
Sisters spoke E! Newsfully admitting that their mother was keeping them in the dark.
“We didn’t know about that,” Lauryn said bluntly.
In fact, Lauryn noticed rather indirectly.
“I got a receipt in my mailbox saying he had applied for a marriage certificate,” she revealed.
“Then I asked him about it recently,” he said. “He denied it.”
Lauryn recalled, “And then he finally said, ‘Oh, I got married.'”
“And,” he admitted, “we were very, very upset.”
One can only imagine.
Alana, 16, was equally amazed.
In fact, she hadn’t really expected her mother to remarry—not after the poisoning, abuse, and heartache with Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson.
“It definitely surprised me,” Alana admitted.
She was amazed, “because mother always said she would never get married.”
However, upon reflection, he saw how June has evolved over time.
“But I mean,” Alana then reasoned, “my mom now, she’s definitely different.”
The siblings also shared more information.
For example, they both have met Justin.
Neither of them chose to volunteer, whether they really did or not Like that guy.
Not everyone would play nice after their mother’s wedding.
Lauryn and Alana were from a different perspective.
“If he feels like we don’t need to be a part of it,” Lauryn began, “then it is what it is.”
Honestly, we can probably read between the lines here. At least when it comes to siblings’ feelings.
Alana didn’t tell them she was getting married. They weren’t at the wedding. They don’t care.
It’s easy to shrug off missing a wedding if you don’t support it.
