After 37 years, the Land Park ponies and their owner are retiring. Pony rides at the entrance to Funderland Amusement Park have been a tradition for families in the Sacramento area for decades. The sisters who own and run the Land Park Pony Rides are also retiring after opening in 1985. “We are 71 years old now and we have our grandchildren. Said Marilyn Hagemann, owner of Land Park Pony Rides. Hagemann also said that many of her horses are aging and in need of special care, with owners saying there may be someone else continuing the pony rides, but no official announcement has been made.

“We are 71 years old now and we have our grandchildren. Every weekend we are busy pony rides and we want to do things with our family,” said Marilyn Hagemann, owner of Land Park Pony Rides. “There are small things like festivals, flea markets, campsites that we can do nothing about.”
