Lane Closures Scheduled Next Week For I-10 Due to Construction – NBC Los Angeles

Drivers planning to move west on Interstate Highway 10 between Beaumont and the Coachella Valley next week, according to Caltrans, will need to plan nighttime lane closures.

For over 16 months, as part of the I-10 Pavement Rehabilitation Project, also known as the I-10 Tune-up, the crew has gradually improved the approximately 20-mile highway between Beaumont and Highway 111 near Palm Springs. ..

Caltrans advised drivers traveling the I-10 along the entire length of the project route to plan a nighttime lane closure from Monday to Friday from 7 pm to 6:30 am.

The crew will perform the pavement and re-striping work. No weekday lane closures are planned, but the crew is set up to work during the daytime hours at various locations along the way.

Approximately 6 miles of temporary lanes on I-10 to the west between Banning and Cabazon are still in use. The crossover lane was initially installed facing east. Like its eastbound counterpart, the westbound road between Banning’s Ace Street and Cabazon’s Main Street is a driver on the other side of the roadway via a separate single lane with no shoulder space. I will deliver it.

Caltrans engineers say this mechanism is being used to avoid lane closures during the day. The driver is encouraged to slow down while using the crossover ramp for safety.

I-10 tune-ups include guardrail replacement, outer lane repaving, inner lane slab replacement, and various on-lamp and off-lamp upgrades to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act.

According to Caltrans, the $ 210 million project is funded primarily by state petrol taxes, with the rest funded by federal and state funding. Work is expected to be completed by the end of 2022. Caltrans website For project-specific updates.
