Lady Rattlers earn 3-0 sweep over Lady Eagles

Lady Rattlers needed a lot of victory after suffering some severe defeats in the first round of district play.

On October 8, they fell to rival Budahaze in four sets at the third meeting of the season after defeating the Lady Hawks in the previous two games. The mentality of Lady Rattlers was difficult, but we were able to adjust and reorganize before the next match.

San Marcos defeated Austin Akins Lady Eagles 3-0 (25-8, 25-17, 25-13) sweep in the snake pit on Tuesday night. Purple and white returned home for the first time in two weeks after going out. It was a good win for the host, but the rest of the season needs to be refocused quickly to secure a playoff spot.

Head coach Jared Te’o is proud of his team’s victory, but always reminds them that they need to be consistent throughout every match. This is a big factor this season.

“Winning is always a good thing,” said Theo. “Last week was a bit tough and we really need to refocus. We have obviously very big opponents on Friday so we’re trying to stay focused on all the teams playing across the map. I think I did that because I’m just there. “

Lady Rattlers (30-9, 6-4 districts) flew in all three frames, taking advantage of Lady Eagles (9-12, 1-9) errors to allow only 38 points throughout the match. .. Since San Marcos switched to 6-2 rotation, more players off the bench have had the opportunity to play. One of those players is Sala Delgado, a senior outside hitter who is well acclimatized to her new role. Despite being a short 5’6 outside hitter, she plays big for purple and white. She scored host victory points in the second set.

“I’m happy to have the opportunity to show you,” Delgado said. “It’s just fun, and it’s great to have my teammates behind me and behind me.”

On Tuesday night, several players joined the board, many of them off the bench. Delgado scored five kills, junior middle blocker Lianagera added another five kills, and freshman setter Grace Parktanak scored 14 assists. Senior outside hitter Maggie Walsh almost recorded another double-double with 8 kills and 10 digs.

With only four games left in district play, three of which are in the top three, Lady Rattlers adjusts and stays consistent, corrects mistakes and raises the bar to punch. You need to go up to play. Tickets to the playoffs. They make a mental mistake during an important match and Theo is trying to change their mindset into the rest of the season. All future games are “do or die”.

“I don’t know what their thinking will be,” said Theo. “I know what mine is, and I hope it’s a little rubbed on them. You know, we’re against one of the big three in those matches I want to win one, that’s the goal. Not only is it great for our self-confidence, but if Haze doesn’t confuse one of them, it will secure a playoff spot … but I see from them What I want is to continuously build and process all the little things, what we didn’t process last week, and I think it would take care of itself if you did those things increase.”

In the next district match, Lady Rattlers are set to face Austin Maroons in Snake Pit at 6:30 pm. At the first meeting on September 21, San Marcos lost in a tough five-set match. They are aiming for revenge on this loss to get one step closer to their goal.

“I want to run the game plan on Friday and win or lose, but it’s great to see us following what the scouts are,” said Theo. “That’s the kind of thing I’m looking for, and it’s built on what I fixed last week.”
