LA woman killed in wrong-way crash on 105 Freeway in El Segundo – Press Telegram

EL SEGUNDO – A 35-year-old Los Angeles woman died early Saturday morning in a head-on collision incorrectly on Glenn Anderson Highway (105) in El Segundo.

The crash was reported at 1:13 a.m. on the westbound Glenn Anderson Highway east of Nash Street, according to California Highway Patrol Officer G. Pepi.

The woman drove her silver Toyota Camry 20015 eastbound on lane number one until it crashed head-on into a black West Toyota Prius 2017 driven westward by a 35-year-old Manhattan Beach man, Pepi said.

The driver of the Prius tried unsuccessfully to avoid the collision by turning right, the officer said.

Paramedics declared the woman dead at the scene, Pepi said. His name was not disclosed pending notification to relatives. The driver of the Prius was taken to Harbor UCLA Medical Center with serious injuries.

A SigAlert was issued about 1:45 a.m. and canceled about two hours later, the agent said.

It was not yet known whether alcohol and / or drugs played a role in the collision, Pepi said.
