KNP Complex Fire: Gov. Gavin Newsom to visit Sequoia forest wildfire burn area, sign climate package; latest evacuations, warnings

Sequoia National Park, California (KFSN)-Governor Gavin Newsom will visit Turrea County on Thursday to see the burned area of the KNP complex fire in Sequoia National Forest.

The governor plans to sign a new $ 15 billion climate package designed to address catastrophic fires and environmental changes that contribute to high fire risk.

Meanwhile, the wildfire continues to burn. Fired by lightning two weeks ago, the KNP Complex Fire burned over 28,000 acres without containment.

The video shows that smoke is coming out of the tree and appears to block the sun. The flame also surrounds the roots of some small trees.

As long as safeguards are in place, the flame-retardant wrap remains and is believed to have helped save the Sequoia in the Giant Forest area.
