KlaasKids needs volunteers for Alexis Gabe search

Alexis Gaber’s family and the KlaasKids Foundation, which is helping, are asking for more volunteers to do a new search on Saturday.

Gabe, a 24-year-old nursing graduate, was last seen on January 26 when she left her home in Oakley to visit a former boyfriend in Antioch. His car, a light blue Infiniti sedan, was found the next day when he turned the keys on Trenton Street and locked the doors.

Police have provided few details since then, but Oakley Police Chief Paul Beard said police continued their search efforts and also called the KlaasKids Foundation a “class action.”

“I will say that we are in favor of the family without it and I am very grateful to the KlaasKIds Foundation for coming out to help with the search.”

Last weekend the family made their first search with the KlaasKids Foundation in honor of 12-year-old Polly Klaas, who was found dead in 1993 after she disappeared from her Petaluma home.

This weekend the team intends to step up their search efforts again, this time from Brentwood. Volunteers are asked to register in advance and meet at 10 a.m. at the Alexis Gabe Search Center at 2535 Sand Creek Road, Unit 112, Brentwood Streets (formerly the Mainland Store).

The family, on Help Bring Alexis Gabe’s Home Facebook page, said last weekend’s searches were “very valuable” and hoped to find new clues about Gabe’s whereabouts.

Those who registered last weekend should not re-register, but should respond to Help Bring Alexis Gabe Home on Facebook event page. New search team volunteers are required to register in advance Help Alexis Gabe bring it home on Facebook page.

Search teams will leave Brentwood Center at 10:00 a.m. and return by 3:00 p.m. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and must carry a valid form of identification. Dress appropriately (long pants, closed shoes).

Snacks, drinks and donations of administrative supplies are appreciated and must be delivered to the Search Center. A GoFundMe the account continues to raise funds to pay for flights and other search expenses.
