The ERA has come to an end for one of Kilwin’s youth clubs – although it brings with it an exciting start to a new chapter.
The Kilving Rangers under 19 played their last match together as part of the youth club as they scoured in the Scottish Cup final against Saint-Cados.
However, this will not be the end in general, as they are stepping up to form the Kilwinning Rangers under the age of 20 next season in the Lowland Development League.
The band has been together for 13 years and will take away lifelong memories as well as lifelong friendships.
Their sending to the youth football club, as they will now be classified as a development team, took place at the end of the awards season.
In an emotional statement, club secretary Alan McAlpine said: “Thank you to everyone who came to the awards ceremony last night. A fantastic night and a worthy way to end our youth football journey.
“Thank you to all those past and present players who have supported our football spirit and our long-term plan. We can be proud that we have developed our own, only attracted the right boys at the right time and made your football development a much higher priority than winning trophies ”.
