Bakersfield, CA (KGET) —Julio Chavez Rodriguez, the granddaughter of civil rights activist Cesar Chavez, has been elected part of the next Biden administration.
Presidential election Joe Biden has elected Chavez Rodriguez as director of the White House’s Intergovernmental Affairs Department. 42-year-old Chavez Rodriguez was born in Delano, attended Tehachapi High School and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.
She was Deputy Campaign Manager for the Biden Harris Campaign and was the California Chief of Senator Kamala Harris. She also served as Deputy Director of the White House’s public involvement in the Obama administration.
She has been a labor activist for agricultural workers since childhood, her family says, arrested in Los Angeles as a junior high school student while handing out leaflets at Pickerine.
