The countdown to the ATP US Open has begun! Tennis fans around the world will be getting ready for an action-packed summer of tennis as we head into the busy Grand Slam period.

Kicking it off towards the end of May is the French Open, followed quickly by Wimbledon at the end of June. Then not long after this, the final Grand Slam tournament of the year that many Americans are eagerly waiting for will soon be upon us, the US Open.

The tournament will take place between Mon, Aug 30 and Sun, Sep 12 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Flushing, New York.

The top contenders

Tennis is a major sport on the world stage, and it is also one of the most popular sports to bet on. With lots of talk about who will win already ongoing, many people will be looking to pick up some cash rewards along the way by guessing the winners. But before you rush to put your money on the upcoming US Open, it’s important to make sure you’re betting with a safe and reliable sportsbook, that offers the best odds on the market. Novak Djokovic

Sowho is the favorite in this years competition? All eyes will be on Novak Djokovic, who is leading the line as the star most likely to clinch what would be his 4th US Open title. It’s no surprise that many are expecting the Serb to win after getting off to a great start by winning the Australian Open back in February. As a result of this, Djokovic is sitting pretty at the top of the ATP rankings and is therefore in the driver’s seat as we head into the summer of Grand Slams. This year alone, he has a win-loss record of 16–3, to add tohis impressive career recordof 950–195. His trophy cabinet is surely full already with 82 titles to his name, but he’s definitely looking to bring in another US Open trophy to add to his collection, as he looks to beat Nadal and Federer’s record of 20 grand slam titles.

Daniil Medvedev

888 Sport is putting the 6”6 ft Russian Daniil Medvedev forward as the man most likely to challenge Djokovic, as he sits2nd favoriteat the time of writing. The future of Medvedev appears to be bright at just 25 years of age, he’s reached his highest ranking this year where he is currently seen as the 2nd best player in the world. Medvedev’s stats show that he favors a hard surface after picking up all of his 10 titles in arenas with this kind of court. So, if he’s to pick up his first Grand Slam, it would make a lot of sense for it to be at the US Open.

Dominic Thiem

Another name many are tipping to repeat his 2020 US Open title win is Dominic Thiem. Last year’s victory was his first Grand Slam title and he’ll be looking to challenge for more. While he has declared his prioritization to winhis preferred Roland GarrosFrench Open, he’s still a serious threat to the competition. One of hismost recent outings in Lyondid not go as well as he’d hoped for, losing to 49th ranked Norrie, leaving him with a record of 9–7 in 2021 so far. He was disappointed with his performance, but he’ll be aiming to hit a good spell of form in the build-up to the US Open, where he looks to defend his title.

Rafael Nadal

Never count out the legend that is Rafael Nadal! Currently ranked as number 3 in the world, he’ll be aiming to capture his 5th US Open and 21st Grand Slam victory to put him as the record for most Grand Slam titles. Nadal’s previous success in Flushing, New York came as recently as 2019 after defeating this year’s 2nd favorite Daniil Medvedev. 2021 so far is looking like an impressive year for the experienced star, as he hasalready picked up 2 titlesafter winning the Italian Open and Barcelona Open, with a grand 18–3 record. With this kind of form, he’s definitely a fantastic option to put your money on.

Alexander Zverev

A little further down the favorites list, but definitely a serious contender and a fine choice for a bet. Alexander Zverev is the youngest of all of these contenders at 24 and is destined for great things in the sport. He’s already claimed 2 titles this year with triumphs in Madrid and Acapulco, so he is in good form and will be aiming to win his first Grand Slam this summer. The US Open will be especially in his mind as his one and only appearance in a Grand Slam final so far came in last year’s US Open where he was defeated by Dominic Thiem. He’ll be looking for redemption this time around.

Who’s your money on?

This summer is set to be an exciting period of Grand Slam tennis with the biggest stars in tennis set to go head-to-head. For fans here in the United States, attention will be on the final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open.
