Stockton, CA (KTXL) —Before the pandemic, many people applied for sporting events and other entertainment in the Stockton Arena, but soon people will be vaccinated.
The arena will be home to the new Mega COVID-19 vaccination site hosted by Kaiser Permanente.
Daniel Kim, an educator of San Joaquin County Public Health Services, said:
Kim said the healthcare system provides its own vaccine supply from the state and is capable of receiving thousands of vaccines a day.
“It’s great that they can allocate a significant amount over a period of time, because this also increases the total number of doses coming into the county,” Kim said.
Details on how the vaccination site will operate are still underway, but Kaiser Permanente officials have confirmed that it is open.
According to Kim, the vaccine will be available to anyone who is qualified, not just members of Kaiser Permanente.
“We want to be able to cover all qualified people, and as the qualifications are released, we will be able to reach more people in the county,” Kim explained. ..
The county hopes that the addition of another high-dose vaccination site will help reduce the case positive rate, leaving the county in the most restrictive purple layer. It is one of the two most restrictive provincial counties in the state.
“By increasing the number of people who get vaccinated, we can reduce the number of infected and seriously ill people,” Kim said.
Vaccinations will begin on Tuesday at the Stockton Arena.
FOX40 contacted Kaiser Permanente, but they refused the interview.
