John Deere recently unveiled a new machine that the company says can help make farming easier.
It is an autonomous driving tractor and company officials say it has been in the works for about 25 years.
Deanna Kovar, Vice President of Production & Precision Ag Production, says: “If you are thinking of switching from horses to tractors and now from manned tractors to stand-alone tractors, this is definitely a very important point in our history. the last step in this automation is autonomy. We can help ensure that critical work is done on the farm when it needs to be done and is done the way it needs to be done to grow all food for our growing population ».
With six cameras providing 360-degree projections and knowing the perimeter of the field, farmers can now focus on another part of the job.
Farmers can even use their phones to monitor progress and see how the field is being cultivated.
By the fall, there will be between 10 and 50 stand-alone plows in the United States, mostly in the Midwest.
