Joe Biden Calls Brittney Griner’s Wife, Says U.S. ‘Working To Secure’ WNBA Star’s Release

Joe Biden has finally contacted his wife Brittney Griner … and according to the White House, POTUS assured her that they will do everything they can to bring the WNBA star home.

The White House said in a statement that both Biden and the vice president Terrible Harris talked with Cherelle Griner on Wednesday … this after Cherelle had been asking US officials for Biden to call her for the past several weeks.

“The president called Cherelle to assure her that he is working to secure Brittney’s release as soon as possible,” the White House said … adding that Biden also read her a draft of a letter he planned to send to Brittney later Wednesday.

In a statement, White House officials added that Biden told Cherelle that they were currently pursuing “every means possible to bring Brittney home.”

As you know, Brittney has been in a Russian prison since mid-February…after being charged take drugs in his luggage at Moscow airport.

Cherelle has been very vocal about speaking with Biden over Brittney’s trial — which began last Friday — and said last Thursday that she would “love it” if the president would “tell me he cares.”

In addition to the phone call, White House officials said Wednesday that Biden also “directed his national security team to maintain regular contact with Cherelle and Brittney’s family and other families of Americans held hostage or illegally detained abroad to keep them informed of efforts to secure the expeditious release of their loved ones.”
