Janitor corrals curious cougar in empty California classroom

A fast guard safely locked a strange cougar in an empty classroom after entering a Northern California high school Wednesday morning, authorities said. The guard was opening Pescadero High for the school day when the juvenile mountain lion was spotted, Detective Javier Acosta told the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. No students or teachers were on campus at the time, Acosta said. “The mountain lion walked carefree on campus and decided to go to an English class,” he said. “The guard acted quickly and managed to close the door behind her.” Acosta said the animal, which weighed about 18 kilograms, looked “lost and scared”. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife calmed the cat and sent it to the Auckland Zoo for examination.
