Big Zu lived up to his nickname on Sunday night in Houston.
Ivica Zubac had 14 points, 15 rebounds, the record of the season, and six blocks, the record of her career, the last of which, with a high Christian Wood, was credited after the challenge of a successful coach with 16.1 seconds left and it’s been a long road to make sure. Clippers victory by 99-98.

Trapped in the second season of a rebuild, the Rockets (15-45) continued their quest for the worst NBA record – and potentially the best pick in the 2022 draft that could come with it – by losing their ninth straight game. Sunday (and his ninth in a row at home).
Houston has a 1-13 record since winning consecutive games in mid-January and coming into play just one game ahead of Orlando and Detroit for the fewest wins in the NBA.
The Clippers were down by up to 13 points in the first half, but were just four behind at the break. Hartenstein was a spark plug from the bench in the first half, with 10 points on 5-of-5 shots and two blocks in his first seven minutes.
And Terance Mann had a passionate push at the end of the first half, with seven points and six rebounds in the second quarter.
In a faltering third quarter, Zubac patrolled the edge effectively with a couple of blocks and a few more contests.
And Reggie Jackson came in third with nine of his team’s 26 points, but the Clippers ’disadvantage grew to six points (80-74) as they entered the fourth quarter.
In the final period, Luke Kennard, who shot 8 of 9 from a 3-point lead in the Clippers’ 142-111 victory over Houston on Feb. 17, hit his first and only shot of the night: a triple that gave the Clippers a 84-83 lead and served as an exclamation point in a 10-0 run, causing a Houston timeout.
Amir Coffey he scored seven of his nine points in the fourth quarter to help drive away the Rockets host, which the Clippers will face again on Tuesday.
