The man was taken to hospital after a serious attack in Irvine.
Police confirmed that the investigation into the “target incident” continues around 2 am [Saturday] after part of Clark Drive was closed.
The man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital with serious injuries, while police said the number of officers in the area would increase.
A Scottish police spokesman said: “We have received word that a man has been found seriously injured in a property on Clark Drive, Irvine, around 2am on Saturday, 9 April.
“A man in serious condition was taken to Crosshouse University Hospital.
“It was a targeted incident and the investigation is ongoing.
“The police presence will be strengthened in this area.”
