Intervention Ken Seeley says major cities that provide sites for drug addicts for safe drug use are important in the fight to save lives and curb overdose deaths across the country.
The intervention star joined TMZ Live on Monday to talk about unusual ways in which U.S. cities and states are coping with the drug overdose crisis.
Ken tells us about safe injection sites where drug users are monitored and given syringes and rubber straps. They play a key role in preventing overdoses … now the most common cause of death in 18-45 year olds.
These sites are already being advertised in states like New York and are being considered in California … while other states like Oregon are decriminalizing hard drugs in an attempt to prevent deaths.
He says injection sites allow users to get information for treatment and test their substances for fentanyl … and that affects big cities.
BTW, Ken points out that these ads have their downsides that are spread in cities and subway stations where children and teens can see them … but he says it’s a double-edged sword and it’s a way to prevent Deaths from happening everywhere.
As a certified interventional therapist and former crystal methane addict, Ken has helped drug addicts overcome addiction with the help of his family, friends and professionals through the A&E show “Intervention”.
Season 24 will premiere tonight … tune in to “TMZ Live” for the entire interview.
