Hundreds lose power after driver crashes into power pole in central Fresno

FRESNO, CA (KFSN) – Hundreds of PG&E customers in downtown Fresno were electrocuted after a driver collided with a power pole Wednesday morning.

The collision struck east of Shields on Blackstone Avenue shortly after 6 a.m. and caused power lines to fall on the road.

The utility company reported that about 1,400 customers are without electricity in the area. According to the PG&E website, the power supply is expected to be restored by 9 am.

Fresno police direct traffic in the area. Blackstone Avenue is closed in both directions and East Shields Avenue is also closed. Drivers are advised to take an alternative route and expect some delays.
