How to manage your allergies in spring

Summer is coming soon, which means warmer temperatures and more opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities.

But if you are one of the millions of Americans who suffer from allergies, going outside when pollen is in the air may not be a good idea.

Here’s how to put one together for use with your weather.

What causes allergies during the summer?

The main cause of summer sickness is pollen, according to WebMD.

Inside spring, trees, grasses and grasses release small amounts of pollen grains into the air to fertilize some plants. When they enter the nose, yours immune system can mistake pollen for danger and release antibiotics that attack allergens.

  • Start taking antidepressants before your symptoms appear.

Over-the-counter medications for allergies

According to the Mayo Clinic, several different types of over-the-counter medications can help alleviate symptoms. They include:

  • Oral antihistamines to help sneezing, itching, nose and watery eyes like Claritin, Alavert, Allergy Zyrtec and Allegra Allergy
  • Medications to relieve nasal congestion such as Sudafed and Afrinol
  • Nasal spray to relieve the symptoms of allergies
  • Some OTC drugs such as Claritin-D and Allegra-D combine antihistamine with digestion.

How to keep air in your home without allergies

It is impossible to get rid of everything that causes allergens from the air in your home, Mayo Clinic says, but these methods can help reduce them:

  • Use efficient filtration in your air conditioning unit and follow the maintenance schedule regularly.
  • Keep the indoor air dry with a humidifier remover.
  • Use a high-pressure air filter (HEPA) in the bedroom.
  • Use yes water purifier which has a HEPA air filter.
