Mike Miller, president of Renner, said the prices of building materials, land and tolls continue to influence home prices.
“The only way to lower prices is to reduce the size of your home site, as everything has risen significantly, so the market for town home-type products is ripe. I can do it.”
A two-bedroom town home can fit in a small footprint of just under 1,200 square feet.
They are also rising in the Peach area near Herndon in Clovis, with prices starting at $ 341,000.
“Price is a factor, and that’s one of the main reasons for developing a town home, and we’re trying to lower prices to make them more affordable,” Miller said.
The model home is not yet complete, but is popular with buyers.
“It was a pleasant surprise. Demand was high and the first release was sold out in a few days,” Miller said.
Both sites still had some town homes.
Miller added that Renner is currently building 27 new communities in the valley, from Bakersfield to Merced.
