Housing Watch: Large increase in real estate career interest during pandemic

Fresno, CA (KFSN)-With only 569 homes available in Fresno County, the home market remained highly competitive for buyers, sellers and realtors.

Guarantee real estate recruiter Reginia Teter recalled that during the pandemic many people interested in becoming agents began to reach out.

“It was like getting them out of the high center. I’ve been thinking about it for quite some time now. I’m off work now. I want to work for myself,” Tetter said.

It is a 4-6 month process to pay the license class fee and pass the exam before becoming an agent.

But you also have to pay hundreds of dollars a year for fees for associations, intermediaries, and multiple listing services.

If you’re taking on the challenge of a crowded area, the industry is always available to more people.

“It’s a matter of tenacity and determination of these agents, as there are properties with multiple offers and you really have to work hard for your clients,” Tetter said.

People were unable to take state exams last year because the test center was closed due to COVID.

They have resumed and new agents are being hired again.

“If you can’t talk about you, you’re probably a good candidate for real estate,” Tetter said.

Scott Reba of Prosperity Home Mortgage explained how the housing boom overwhelmed all workers involved in the industry.

“It’s not just realtors and lenders, but title officers and escrow officers, appraisers, home inspectors, pest inspectors, and general contractors,” Leva said.

While many of these areas did require additional workers, Reba said some companies may be reluctant to hire a large number of new hires.

“I wish I had more help, but most of these sub-industries understand that these cycles go back and forth. Yes, I can build and hire a lot of people today. , The amount may decrease in 1 year or 6 months. “”

Employers do not have to let go of people after training.

Reba said recruitment plays a major role in the industry and can build a career in any of the areas we mentioned.

But it required patience and tenacity.
