Hollister, CA (KION) A Hollister’s new shopping center We aim to maintain a strong regional economy.

Some residents used social media. Arcades, bowling alleys, music stores, Trader Joe’s, etc. were included in many requests. Hollister Mayor Ignacio Velázquez said it was a way to keep money flowing into the region.

Hollister is known for its many small businesses, but the center is home to major chain stores such as Ross, TJ MAXX, Panera Bread and the famous footwear.

“This is the developer who put together the contract, they are his clients, and in many cases people think the city chooses. We don’t,” said Mayor Velázquez. “Developers work with clients to bring them in.”

According to Mayor Velázquez, one of the challenges facing residents is having to leave the county to shop. “Last year was a good year, because the inhabitants were shopping locally, which definitely helps it,” he said.

The building already looks like it stands in an area like McRae or Park Street. Mayor Velázquez said additional project buildings like Ross and TJ MAXX will begin construction later this summer.
