Gusty winds whip through SoCal Wednesday

According to the National Meteorological Service, residents of Southern California can expect a gust of wind to blow through the area on Wednesday.

The NWS issued a strong wind warning Wednesday morning in the mountains of Los Angeles County against winds of 25-40 mph, up to 65 mph, excluding the Santa Monica Mountains. Power outages and fallen tree limbs are expected in this area.

The strong winds on Wednesday morning could cause difficult driving conditions, dangerous sea conditions, and temporary shelter damage throughout the Los Angeles, Ventura, and Central Coast regions, the NWS warned.

Authorities are investigating whether a strong wind on Tuesday dropped the movie crane into Pasadena’s home, said Henry Narvaez, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The production company was filming Tuesday night when a lighting crane next to the movie shoot fell into two homes and the roof was damaged. According to Narvaez, the three went out of the house, but no one was injured.

“It’s currently under investigation … is it mechanical or Mother Nature,” he said.
