Tsubasa is in mourning again after Lieutenant Billy Taz Sullivan crashed a private plane at Porterville Airport on Monday.

“As a community, as a group of 1,100 members of this wing, we were mourning as a group, only standing for a few days, caring for each other, caring for ourselves,” said Colonel Troy Havener. Commander of the 144th Combat Wing.

Sullivan was a longtime member of the Air Force and the Air National Guard.

“Taz was the embodiment of everything we value here,” said Havener. “He was a seasoned pilot and was ready to teach everyone what he needed to know to grow as a fighter pilot and leader.”

At Fresno’s 144th Combat Wing base, security guards provide care and counseling services from the Airman Care Team.

“After a short period of caring for each other, we continue to care for his family, but we will return to our mission tomorrow and appear to be as skilled and ready as he wanted us to be. I will try to do it, “said Havener.

Sullivan leaves his wife. He was 37 years old.

National Transportation Safety Board officials said investigators are planning to investigate the frame and engine of Sullivan’s plane and hope to complete the test later this week.
