‘Good Times’ Actor Johnny Brown Dead at 84

Johnny Brownwho starred in housing project manager Nathan Bookman in a massive “Good Times” program is dead.

Johnny’s daughter Sharon Catherine Brown tells TMZ that he was at a doctor ‘s office in LA on Wednesday checking for a pacemaker, and soon after leaving, he had a cardiac arrest and collapsed. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he passed. He says the meeting was routine, so his sudden death was a shock.

Sharon said, “Our family has been destroyed. Destroyed. Destroyed. Outside of heart performance. Can barely breathe.”

Johnny was a patron Sammy Davis Jr. Sammy made a role for Johnny on Broadway, and from there his career soared. He starred in Carry Me Back to Morningside Heights … director Sidney Poitier. Neil Simon noticed and put Johnny in The Out of Towners.

However, “Good Times” was his breakthrough role. He joined the program in 1975, in the middle of his second term.

As an actor Jimmie Walker tells TMZ that he is hurt because he loved his comrade in the program.

Johnny collected a number of credits, including 3 productions from the series Laugh In, Julia, Maude, The Jeffersons, Archie Bunker’s Place, Family Matters, Sister, Sister, Moonlighting, and “Martin.”

Johnny was left with his wife, whom he married 61 years ago, and his son, John Jr.

Johnny was 84 years old.
