Gonzales students compete in Powderpuff games – Salinas Valley Tribune

GONZALES – The first of two weeks of Powderpuff competitions between Gonzales High School classes took place last week at the Gonzales City Softball Field.

“Each class needed at least seven players to participate,” Gonzales athletics director Margie Daniels said. “The juniors beat the seniors in overtime, and the juniors played later and it was definitely a game that did not disappoint. It was exciting to see the girls compete. The former has beaten the latter and will face the juniors next week. We had a great turnout and Mr. Cuevas made hot dogs for everyone. ”

Spartans softball head coach Jimmy Carrillo, who was one of Powderpuff’s coaches, said he can’t wait to see the round of league games.

“I really enjoyed the event,” Carrillo said. “It was nice to see the kids playing other sports outside of their element and being really competitive. Both games have come to a close. Waiting for the championships to come.”

The date and time of the championship round is yet to be determined because of all the end-of-course activities.
