The lightning-sparked Rabbit Fire burning near Hume Lake was at 1,211 acres and 24% contained, the U.S. Forest Service reported Saturday.

The blaze, which started Sept. 30, is along Buck Rock Road and has 114 people assigned, according to a Forest Service news release. Officials said trees that pose a hazard in the area are being mitigated for public safety, and a drone is helping fire managers monitor the direction of the fire.

The Forest Service said warmer temperatures and lower humidity are influencing fire management. Soft closures are in effect, but Sequoia National Forest visitors will only be affected within the immediate vicinity of the fire. There are alternate routes to allow visitors access to as much of the surrounding forest as possible.

A second blaze, the Redwood Fire, burning to the southeast, had consumed 1,957 acres as of the most recent update on Thursday.
