Georgia: Man arrested after walking into grocery store with 5 guns, body armor, police say

Atlanta-Police arrested a man who stepped into an Atlanta grocery store with five guns and a bulletproof vest on Wednesday, days after a shooting at a Colorado supermarket, officials said.

Police spokesman Anthony Grant said police were called to Atlantic Station Publix shortly after 1:30 pm, where the manager said the armed man went to the bathroom as soon as he entered the store.

“Witnesses observed the man, warned the store owner, and the store owner called the police,” Grant said. Speaking to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution..

Police saw the man leave the bathroom and immediately detained him for cross-examination. According to police, his weapon included two long guns and three pistols, all hidden.

Police identified the man as 22-year-old Rico Marley, who was charged with reckless acts, the newspaper reported. Police are still working to determine why he had so many guns in the store.

Investigators said the man had a psychiatric evaluation.

Several police cars were parked at the Atlantic Station while police continued their investigation.

The Atlantic Drive on the main street running in front of the store was closed. Shoppers turned their backs as they approached the grocery store, but there were still many people parading around the outdoor mall.
