San Francisco (cron) – The community is in mourning after a beloved woman was found dead in Golden Gate Park. She was found lying near a fallen tree branch last Saturday.
One of her friends told KRON4 that Beth Abrams was energetic, athletic and giving. She has been teaching dance throughout the Bay Area for 40 years while working as a non-profit founder.
Getting some fresh air in Golden Gate Park was part of her daily routine until tragedy struck last Saturday.
“It’s really the only thing that can stop Beth. She was such a go-getter, so such a big devastating end and a quick one. Such a great woman. A true champion,” said her longtime friend. said Katie Warner.
Warner has been friends with Abrams for over 30 years. She was saddened when she learned that a jogger had found Abrams’ body near a fallen tree branch. Warner says she was an inspiration.
“She was relentless. She didn’t stop. And she asked a lot of people for help,” she said.
That support came through the Beth Abrams Center for Peace, Arts, Justice and the Environment. The nonprofit focused on feeding impoverished immigrants in San Francisco and later advocated for the spread of electric vehicle chargers for homeowners.

“She believed she couldn’t wait for someone to help or give. She went out and did it,” Warner said.
Broken tree branches were seen piled up in Golden Gate Park. Her coroner has not revealed the cause of Abrams’ death, but it is believed that a fallen tree branch struck her and killed her.
On Friday night, Abrams’ dance community held a virtual vigil to honor her life. It’s unclear what will happen to nonprofits.
