Fresno teen hosts ‘back to school’ giveaway, accepting donations

Fresno, CA (KFSN)-A teenager in Fresno is looking for a way to give back to the community, but he needs your help.

“They’re going to grab their bags, we’ll also give them notepads, pencils, highlighters and water bottles,” said Friends.Giving founder Devin Cornell.

On Saturday, Cornell and a group of volunteers did not heat up their distribution of backpacks and school supplies at Feed the Sheep Ministries Church.

“We are hosting a carnival and a’return to school’event in the hope of delivering backpacks and school supplies to children who may need them,” said volunteer Jace Hawkins. Stated.

The carnival included food, fun, games, and all the “back to school” essentials.

“When children pick up toys and backpacks, seeing them smile makes us happy. It also makes our day,” Cornell said.

Devin Cornell started donating to make a difference in the community four years ago, the charity Friends.

“Our motto is that you don’t have to make it big to make a big impact,” Cornell said.

This is just the beginning. This group collects and distributes school essentials all year round.

“We always have a list of items we accept,” Cornell added. “It will be a water bottle, children’s clothing, toys, books, Santa stockings, and a backpack.”

They donate to Venmo and Cash App.

“It helps us,” Cornell added. “Knowing that people are donating, we build our confidence.”
