Fresno city leaders have decided to offer the Fresno Convention Center as a hosting facility if immigrants continue to flow into the southern border.
Vice President of the City Council of Fresno, Nelson Espalza, sent a letter to Secretary Alejandro Mallorca on Tuesday. Esparza and Fresno city councilors Esmeralda Soria and Miguel Arias have signed a letter stating that the city can make the facility available if the Department of Homeland Security needs more space.
“The city of Fresno is pleased to be able to serve while the Department of Homeland Security is working towards a more sustainable and long-term strategy around the wave of children seeking evacuation in the United States,” said Espalza. Said in a letter.
At this time, it is unclear if the convention center will actually be used.
