They released images of the suspect and the suspect vehicle.
Police say around 2 a.m., they received a report that there was a dead body in the parking lot of the La Quinta Inn in Shaw and Cornelia.
When police arrived, they found that the victim was a woman.
Surveillance shots showed that a truck had dragged her from the traffic area to the parking lot.
The driver of the truck then removed the victim, left the body and drove away. He was last seen driving on Cornelia Avenue toward Shaw.
Investigators say the woman was pushing a shopping cart and walking her dog on a leash at the intersection of Herndon and Millburn when she was hit by the suspect. Her name is not yet known.
After the collision, he was trapped under the truck as he dragged it for about 8 miles until it stopped at the La Quinta Inn.
It is said that the suspect vehicle is a newer model, gray or silver full size, crew cabin, Chevy Silverado. It has a moon roof, a light bar and a silver toolbox on the bed. It also has significant damage to the front due to the collision.
Police ask anyone who knows the driver or identifies the truck to contact Detective Robert Cegielski at (559) 621-5064 or Detective Brian Hance at (559) 621-5057.
Several roads in northwestern Fresno were closed as police investigated, but have since reopened.
NOTE: Fresno police had earlier identified the vehicle as a red pickup, but later gave us information that it was silver-gray.
