Fresno EOC holds fundraiser, events this PRIDE month

FRESNO, California (KFSN) – The Fresno EOC is taking action to support the LGBTQ + community this month PRIDE and you can help.

It’s hard to miss the Fresno EOC LGBTQ + resource center this June. From fundraising to events, the team is active throughout the month

The group is hosting Illuminate Pride Night on June 25th.

“It’s a big party show in front of the center,” said LGBTQ + Resource Manager Jennifer Cruz. “It gives them a voice and a place to come and spend a wonderful evening and the opportunity to make donations to a very large fund.

Carrying out on Fulton Street, all proceeds from the event are donated to the Trance Centers Medical Fund.

“It’s important because many Fresno people live in poverty,” Cruz said. “In particular, the LGBTQ + community is disproportionately affected by these barriers, including poverty.”

The nonprofit also hosts Give Out Day, a one-month fundraising initiative for the same fund.

“For people to get some kind of financial help, to get the medical procedures they need, it helps everything, from their daily lives to their mental health,” Cruz said.

While Give Out Day takes place on June 30 – people are encouraged to donate throughout the month.

“Every dollar counts, whether it is a small or a large donation,” Cruz added.

The center is also partnering with Fresno Chaffee Zoo for Fresno Pride Night on June 24th. In addition, the center itself offers non-stop support with support groups, mental health services and a wardrobe.

“They can get clothes, accessories, makeup or other things that confirm gender,” Cruz said.
