Fremont’s Diamond Kiilani Kamehaiku Cisco was fatally injured at about 10:00 pm on January 12 while standing on the left shoulder of southbound I-880 near the Dixon Landing Road exit. The driver of the other car got out with a pistol and ordered him out of the van. He recovered the sign, returned to the vehicle and drove off after receiving the van keys from a friend of Kamehaiku Sisko, officials said.

After he left, Kamehaiku Sisko and her friend were stranded near the median with no way to move the van parked in the fast lane. As they struggled to figure out how to get back safely, an oncoming Toyota Prius swerved over to the shoulder to avoid the van and crashed into Kamehaikushiko, officials said.

Police have not announced any arrests and no charges have been filed so far.

Kamehaku Cisco’s online obituary described her as a passionate “born leader” who saw the good in others, was employed at an Amazon fulfillment center in Newark, and worked with children at a local church. doing.
