Former San Diego Mayor, Kevin Faulconer, announced that he will NOT be running for Governor this year –

SAN DIEGO (COUSSI) – With the Regional Election just around the corner, we already have a political official removing his name from the nomination. On Thursday, former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer announced that he would NOT be running for governor this year.

Last night he issued the following statement:

“It’s harder than ever to qualify for California. “We all know this, which is why the majority of Californians believe our state is on the wrong track,” Faulconer said in a statement issued a day before the June 7 run-off deadline. .

“I want to run for governor to change that, but the prolonged effects of the circus that unfolded towards the end of last year’s recall make it extremely difficult for me to restart the kind of campaign I would like to do.

“I appreciate all the encouragement I have received, but I know now is not the time. California’s problems are solvable. Until we build our state at the top, I know we can continue to progress city by city, community by community. Thank you all.”

Good evening in San Diego, KUSI Ginger Jeffries and Matt Prichard spoke with the former mayor about his decision and what he will do from now on.
