Pazin has announced that he is running for the new seat of the 27th California Assembly District.
It includes parts of the provinces of Fresno, Mandera and Mercedes.
Pazin is a Republican candidate and has submitted his candidacy papers, according to the website of the California Secretary of State.
Pazin also confirmed his candidacy with Action News. He served as sheriff of Merced County from 2003 to 20-13.
He retired to serve as head of the Governor’s Emergency Services Bureau – first under Jerry Brown and then under Gavin Newsom.
Pazin is just the last candidate to run for the 27th Assembly District.
Last week, Fresno board member Esmeralda Soria announced he would be running for office.
Council member Mike Karbasi is also campaigning for the post.
