Fontana man is arrested for allegedly murdering Jurupa Valley resident | News

A man from Fontana has been arrested and charged with the murder of a resident of the Jurupa Valley, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

On May 7 at about 11:49 p.m., deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station were sent a report of a dead man in the St. Louis area. Parkhurst south of Harrel Road in the Jurupa Valley.

Upon arrival, deputies found the victim inside a vehicle parked on the street. He had injuries in line with a murder. Deputies secured the area as a crime scene and station investigators responded to launch the investigation. The Central Murder Unit also responded and took over the investigation. The victim was identified as Byron Graves, a 39-year-old resident of the Jurupa Valley.

A suspect was identified during the investigation.

Around 9 a.m., Fontana Police Department officers responded to a phone call on Block 14000 on Cherry Avenue, where the suspect was spotted. Suspect Tavae Stalks, 30, a resident of Fontana, was arrested without incident. Stalks was later booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center.
