Fohi junior David Muñoz-Padilla will serve as FUSD’s student representative | News

Fontana High School youth David Muñoz-Padilla will serve as a student representative on the Fontana Unified District Education Board in 2022-23, putting into action his passion for education and advocacy and providing a voice for thousands of students.

Muñoz-Padilla was selected from a group of five finalists who were interviewed during the April 13th special meeting of the Board of Education.

“I feel I have a duty to give back to the community because they have given so much to me,” said Muñoz-Padilla. “Ultimately, we are educating the future and it is important that the needs of every student are met and that they feel represented. “I’m excited to bring new ideas and bring them back to my community in the best way possible.”

Muñoz-Padilla has embraced Fohi’s variety of extracurricular programs – competing in cross country, track and field, and serving in the Key Club, the California Scholarship Federation, and the Mexican-American Student Association.

His academic excellence and positive impact on campus have earned him Student of the Month recognition, Jerry Dison Gold Awards and a position as junior honorary companion at Fohi’s 2022 graduation.

He also dedicates his free time to his community and has served on the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council, participated in the Young Legislators Program, and helped raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Association as part of its program. leadership development Students of the Year and has mentored new students through the organization Big Brothers Big Sisters.

“David’s commitment to helping others and protecting education makes him an excellent choice to serve as a representative of Fontana Unified students,” said Superintendent Randal S. Bassett. “We are excited to welcome him to the Board of Education next year.”
