Flurry of diplomatic contacts fuel Iran deal speculation

Reports of soaring diplomatic activity and significant progress suggest that indirect talks between the United States and Iran may be approaching conclusions.

That is despite efforts by US authorities to curb the possibility of an imminent agreement to bring Washington and Tehran back to the 2015 nuclear deal.

The United States and Britain denied reports on Monday that an agreement had been reached with Iran on the exchange of American and British prisoners.

Such an agreement could be a confidence-building measure to revive the nuclear agreement.

The return to the US agreement will be President Joe Biden’s biggest foreign policy initiative to date.
