Flames engulf Bonsall home; no injuries reported

A fire broke out in a house late Thursday in Bonsall, sending thick black smoke into the night sky as fire crews battled and eventually destroyed the flames, authorities said.

No injuries were reported, as residents were able to evacuate before firefighters arrived, said Capt. Fire Department spokesman Capt. John Choi. No firefighters were injured in the blaze.

The fire was reported at about 10:40 p.m. in a two-story house in Paso Del Lagos, a rural road about a mile north of North River Road and northwest of State Route 76.

The blaze broke out at a house in Bonsall on Thursday night, but no injuries were reported. Firefighters from the North County Fire Department, with the help of Oceanside and Vista crews, battled the blaze.

“When the first units arrived, the fire was blowing from all sides and from the first and second floors,” Choi said, adding that the crews took up defensive positions fighting the flames only from the outside because it was not safe to enter. .

The fire was contained to the house and did not spread to nearby vegetation, Choi said. It was not immediately clear what triggered the blaze or how much the damage would cost, but a firefighter from the Northern County Fire Department was expected to investigate.

Choi said fire crews from Oceanside and Vista helped North County firefighters.
