Final preparations underway for Fresno’s Pride parade

FRESNO, California (KFSN) – The heart of the Fresno Tower area radiates with pride all year round.

But soon, Olive Avenue will turn into a celebration of love for the 32nd annual Pride Parade and the Rainbow Festival.

“We will continue,” says Tracie Cisneros.

Held for the first time since 2019, the festivities are expected to be bigger than ever.

“It’s great for business, but it’s more important to the community,” says Daniel Goldstein, owner of Richie’s Pizza and Hot Dogs.

Richie’s Pizza and Hot Dogs have top spots along the way. This sweetens the $ 5 feta and soda pride they will offer.

“We will share it like a frisbee,” Goldstein said. “We will definitely try.”

Owners Daniel, Louis and Angel opened the store six years ago and, like many local businesses, struggled during the pandemic.

The return of the Pride Parade means from 10,000-20,000 potential customers who walk.

“It’s good to see everyone out again, interacting, having fun and having fun,” Louis said.

The team at Splash Fresno puts the finishing touches on the décor.

“You can expect celebration, maybe tears,” says manager Trent Cross. “Some strong and cheap drinks.”

The Video Dance Bar opened less than a year ago.

Cross says that while staff have celebrated pride in other major cities, celebrating at home will have a special meaning.

“Pride comes from a place of activism, but it also comes from a place of celebration of our culture,” he said. “Queer culture, that is.”

As one of the biggest sponsors of Fresno pride, you can find their float making waves at the end of the parade.

The Rainbow Pride Parade and Festival starts at 10 a.m. Saturday.
