A 15-year-old female student was taken to hospital after being stabbed by a male high school burglar in California.

The woman, who was not named, was allegedly attacked by the man at Stagg High School in Stockton.

The site was immersed in lockdown and the suspect was arrested and taken away by police.

Stockton Unified School District said the motive for this morning’s stabbing was “under investigation”.

It tweeted: ‘Stagg High School is currently under lockdown for the safety of all staff and students.

‘An offender arrived on campus and stabbed a student. The suspect is being held and the victim has been transferred to the hospital.

“The motive for the attack is being investigated.”

Cops said the attack did not appear to be random and they recovered a weapon from the scene.
