6-year-old boy injured in gas station shooting

AUCKLAND — A 6-year-old boy was injured in the leg by a stray bullet in a shooting at a petrol station in East Auckland on Friday night, authorities said.

The shooting came two hours before a man was shot dead at a street memorial to recent murder victims.

Police said the boy was shot dead around 9:20 p.m. Friday at a Kwiksab gas station on 22nd and East 12th Streets.

Authorities said the boy’s father stopped at a station to fill up with petrol. Authorities said the boy’s 3-year-old sister was also in the car.
