Fairfield man struck, killed at gas station – Times-Herald

A Fairfield man was killed early Friday after being attacked by a driver at a Fairfield gas station.

An official in Solano County Coroner identified the man as Martin Clifton, 59 years old.

According to police, the situation was puzzling.

The truck driver seems to have been pumping gasoline at 3000 blocks of Travis Boulevard just before 5:20 am. At that time, a victim invisible to the driver was caught between the male truck and the attached trailer.

According to police, the driver finished his job and drove the car, overtaking the victim in the process. When police tracked the driver, officials said he didn’t know he had hit anyone.

The driver is working with investigators, and police said this was not a hit-and-run situation.

If you have any information, please call the Fairfield Police Station (428-7300).
